Dr. Cather is a general surgeon with many years of experience performing a variety of surgical procedures. He also surgically treats cancers of the colon, breast, rectum, skin, adrenal glands and thyroid, as well as placement of catheter ports for chemotherapy patients.

Dr. Cather received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital. He started his residency at the University of Rochester, spent two years in the United States Air Force and completed his residency at the University of Florida Medical School at Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, FL.

Dr. Cather has been active on the medical staff at Lakeland Regional Medical Center from 1970 until present. He is the current Surgery Section Chief and Surgery Spokesperson at Watson Clinic LLP.

He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. 

Dr. Cather holds membership with the following organizations: The Southeastern Surgical Congress, American College of Surgeons, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society, the University of Florida’s Woodward Society and the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
